Alejandro Usteves is a Nicaraguan contra soldier and a CIA asset working with Reed Thompson. He is the primary antagonist for Teddy's Storyline in Season 1.
Biography[]
He was working with Logan Miller on the war against communism until he OD'd on cocaine. Alejandro had to take care of any loose ends as well as the ladies who witnessed Logan's death. He has ties to other crime lords and known Contra groups, especially the fighters in Nicaragua, who are run by his estranged wife, Elena Usteves, fighting the Sandinistas. He once had a son with Elena, who died at an early age. Before he was a soldier, he was a normal family man until the Sandinistas gained power and all of Nicaragua went to Hell. He recruited Teddy McDonald to the op Logan was working on, since Logan recommended him in case anything happened to him. When Victoria Grelli arrived in LA searching for her sister, Kristen, Alejandro saw her as a liability, despite Teddy's attempt to slow down her investigation. Impatient with Teddy's actions, and now person of interest on Victoria's list, he took matters into his own hands and murdered Victoria inside Kristen's apartment. While taking care of the problem in the apartment, Teddy, who was now irate and disgusted from seeing what happened to Victoria, shot Alejandro in the head using a pillow as a suppressor after seeing much of a monster he can be when it comes to killing. Both him and Kristen were butchered by Teddy and their remains were placed in a suitcase and buried in a rural area. In Season 2, Teddy had to move their remains with Matt's help upon learning a construction crew was breaking ground near the burial site for the 1984 Olympic Games.
Legacy[]
Alejandro was a ruthless killer, but wasn't always one. He was a family man before the Sandinistas occupied Nicaragua. He sought to make sure his people had food, guns, and medicine, and was willing to flood American streets with cocaine to fund the Contra war. He even resorted to cutting any loose ends, in other words, killing innocent folks who would be a problem for him, and saw Teddy's stall tactics as time consuming. Alejandro lacked patience and began forgetting what he was fighting for, let alone, why he was fighting.
