Hernan Zapata was Gustavo's handicapped brother and an ally to the Los Monarcas street gang in the Barrio.
Biography[]
He was confined to a wheelchair and must rely on an oxygen tank to breathe. El Oso was partly to blame for the fact that he would spend the rest of his life to a wheelchair and connected to a breathing apparatus. Gustavo looked to his brother because of his past ties with the Los Monarcas gang and the leadership, La Fuerza. He and his wife, Nuvia, along with their 3 sons moved into a house in San Diego Gustavo was using for smuggling cocaine. After attempting to negotiate with Oscar Fuentes and his dirty cops on looking the other way during their smuggling ventures, hours later, he was discovered in his home with a large knife in his chest and Nuvia's throat slit.
Legacy[]
In the past, Hernan was a major player in the Mexican mafia and lacked trust for Oso after what happened to him. He even agreed to help in the smuggling efforts after Oso created a tunnel under the border. Though he let go of one past, it caught up to him and endangered his family after Gustavo failed a negotiation with the Tijuana PD.
