Stay the fuck away from me and my own!
-Andre Wright
Melody Nicole Wright is the childhood crush and paramour of Franklin Saint. She is a major character during the first 4 seasons of the series.
Biography[]
Season 1[]
She has been Franklin's neighbor and crush since they were kids. She lived with her father, Andre Wright, who was a sergeant for the Los Angeles Police Department. She was still in high school at the start of the show. Along the way she discovered that Franklin was dealing drugs and found birds of coke in his bag.
Season 2[]
There is still some chemistry going down between her and Franklin. After Andre learned that Franklin was pushing crack in South Central, he warned him to keep his distance from both him and Melody, unaware that she was still sneaking around with Saint.
Season 3[]
At the end of her time in High School, Melody was working as a clerk at a local roller rink. She had a scholarship for Spelman College, however, after being introduced to the rock by a friend at a house party and getting high and addicted to it, her scholarship went as well as her employment at the rink. Completely stuck on the rock, she began skimming some of her Spelman funding just to get high, and when Andre found out that, he took the money away, but that didn't stop her, as she began pawning off stuff in her house just to get high. After her father was killed, she was still smoking crack until she discovered her fathers death was no suicide. Instead of getting another fix, she fixated on his fathers death and knew only Franklin benefitted from it. During the repast at Cissy's home, she soon realized the Nix was in Franklin's pocket which explained the ME report he gave her. After attempting to kill Franklin in her home, she later relocated to Odessa, Texas with her aunt Bernice and became a devout Christian where she volunteered at a local church.
Season 4[]
She later was interviewed by Irene Abe about the drug epidemic plaguing Los Angeles and Franklin's shooting, in which Melody neither denied nor told the true story. Later down the road she was cleaning up a classroom at her church and was approached by Franklin who was using a cane due to the shooting. She was told about Irene's death and as Melody demanded that Franklin be honest about Andre's death, Franklin chose not to answer but to leave her in the dust.
Aftermath[]
After getting sober from the rock and turning her life over to Jesus, Melody never got the closure she wanted from Franklin, but she knew in her heart what happened to her father and knew Andre's death was not his own doing but of Franklin's design.
